To foster a thriving skateboarding community and to develop permanent, free, and publicly accessible skateparks along the Gulf Coast Region.
GCSA History
In 2018, Biloxi skateboarders came together to push for new public skateparks in Harrison County. Frustrated by the closure of the Harrison County Skatepark, they faced long drives or skating city streets. Tyler Prowant, a dedicated Airman and global skateboarder, led efforts to unite the community through S.K.A.T.E. events, skateboarding videos, and park meetings. His advocacy highlighted skateboarding's benefits and the need for local skateparks on the coast.
In the winter of 2023 we established a DIY skatepark in Biloxi, a collaborative effort by Gulf Coast Skateparks Association (GCSA) and Biloxi Main Street, which has significantly boosted community engagement and well-being. With daily visitors now ranging from children to adults, successful events raising funds and awareness, and positive impacts on youth through skateboarding programs, the skatepark has also contributed to reducing local crime rates. Public perception has been overwhelmingly positive, supported by strong online presence and media coverage, underscoring the community's enthusiasm for developing a future public-use skatepark. These efforts reflect a commitment to enhancing Biloxi's community spirit and urban vitality.
501c3 StatusCompany
As of May 28, 2024, our organization has been granted 501(c)(3) status by the IRS, which means we are officially recognized as a tax-exempt, nonprofit organization. This status allows us to receive tax-deductible donations and grants, provides potential tax benefits to donors, and affirms our commitment to serving the public interest through our mission and activities.

About the President and Founder.
Tyler Prowant's journey in skateboarding began with his cousin Dillon, sparking a lifelong passion that transcended his military career. Growing up in rural Florida, Tyler and Dillon carved out their own skateboarding community, inspiring Tyler's dedication to the sport. Throughout his military service across various countries, Tyler continued to skate, connecting with global skateboarding communities and documenting his experiences through YouTube. Alongside his skateboarding ventures, Tyler co-founded Shotgun Skateboards, supporting local skateboarders and organizing community events. His efforts include revitalizing Biloxi's skateboarding scene and advocating for new skateparks. Now back in Biloxi, Tyler aims to expand the local skateboarding network and foster a supportive community for enthusiasts. His journey underscores a commitment to sharing the joy of skateboarding and building inclusive spaces for skateboarders worldwide.
