The Gulf Coast Skateparks Association
Our 501c3 nonprofit is dedicated to growing the skateboarding community and developing permanent public access and free skateparks through a variety of impactful initiatives. We raise funds and awareness for our mission by hosting frequent events like the Biloxi Skate Fest, Skatin’ the Coast, and weekly skate meet-ups, which generate financial support and increase public understanding of skateboarding's benefits.
Founded to address the lack of public skateparks on the Gulf Coast, GCSA has rapidly become a catalyst for change. Over the past year of 2024 we have:
Engaged Over 1,000 Skaters: Hosted 67 events, including the inaugural Biloxi Skate Fest and Skatin’ the Coast, drawing diverse participants and families.
Developed Community-Driven Infrastructure: Completed the Biloxi DIY Skatepark with $7,000 in grassroots funding and volunteer efforts, adding 14 custom features built by local skaters.
Promoted Safety and Inclusivity: Distributed 60 helmets and provided workshops on safe skating practices.
Our efforts have energized the local skateboarding community and demonstrated the transformative impact of accessible skate facilities.
We foster community engagement by involving local businesses, volunteers, and participants from neighboring states, building strong ties within and beyond our community. Empowering the next generation is a key focus, and we offer skateboarding lessons and mentorship to nurture the skills and enthusiasm of new skateboarders through our programs.
We also honor influential figures in the skateboarding community, such as John “STEEZE” Standberry, ensuring their contributions are remembered and celebrated.
Additionally, we promote local talent by showcasing musicians and artists, creating a vibrant cultural environment.
Above all, we prioritize safety, legal compliance, and inclusivity in all our events, ensuring they are well-organized and accessible to all participants. Through these efforts, we aim to create a thriving and supportive skateboarding community.
